What is Blackjack? A Brief Answer for New Players
In One Paragraph
Blackjack is a card game played between you and the dealer. You're dealt two cards and can choose to draw another (Hit) or stick with what you have (Stand). Get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over, and you win. If your first two cards total exactly 21 (Ace + any 10-value card), that's a Blackjack — and it usually pays out at a higher rate.
Basic Card Values
- 2–9 — Worth the number shown on the card
- 10, J, Q, K — All worth 10
- Ace (A) — Can be worth 1 or 11, whichever is more advantageous
Unlike Baccarat where you simply pick a side, Blackjack puts you in the driver's seat every round. You decide when to stand, when to hit, and when to double your bet. That level of control makes Blackjack the go-to choice for players who enjoy strategy and hands-on decision-making.
Five Different Formats
Blackjack Variants Available at gt3
Not all Blackjack games are played the same way. Here's an overview of the main variants available on the gt3 platform.
Classic Blackjack — The Best Starting Point
Classic Blackjack uses six to eight decks and follows standard rules. The dealer must Hit on 16 or below and Stand on 17 or above. Players can Double Down after the first two cards and Split pairs of equal value cards. This format is best for new users because its rules are consistent and easy to understand.
Live Dealer Blackjack — Real Studio Experience
This format uses a real human dealer working in a studio, streamed live. gt3 players can watch every dealer action through high-quality cameras — from cutting the deck to dealing the cards. This delivers a higher level of transparency and an experience that closely mirrors a physical casino.
Live Blackjack is usually available with a range of betting limits, from standard tables up to higher-limit tables for experienced players. The phone screen interface features large, easy-to-tap buttons so you can make decisions within the allotted time without confusion.
Multi-Hand Blackjack — More Hands, More Opportunities
In Multi-Hand format, players can play two to five hands simultaneously in one round. Each hand plays separately against the same dealer. This allows experienced players to maximize their strategy in a single session. The minimum bet per hand is usually lower since multiple bets are made at once.
| Variants | Dealer Format | Number of Hands | Suitable For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic Blackjack | RNG Software | 1 hand | New players |
| Live Blackjack | Live human dealer | 1 hand | Love the feel of a real casino |
| Multi-Hand | RNG Software | 2–5 hands | Experienced players |
| European Blackjack | RNG Software | 1 hand | Prefer different rule variations |

Options for Every Round
Five Key Actions in Blackjack
Every round of Blackjack requires you to make at least one decision. Understanding these five actions is the foundation of all advanced strategy.
Request one additional card from the dealer. You can keep Hitting until you choose to stop or exceed 21 (Bust). Commonly used when your hand total is well below 21 and the risk of Busting is still low.
Stand and don’t request additional cards. This move is ideal when your hand total is strong — for example, 17 or higher — and you prefer to wait for the dealer to finish their hand.
Double your original bet and receive exactly one additional card. Best used when your hand totals 10 or 11 and the dealer's upcard is weak. Higher risk, but the potential reward is doubled.
When your first two cards are of equal value, you can Split them into two separate hands, each with its own matching bet. For example, splitting Aces gives you two chances to hit Blackjack at once. That said, not every pair is worth splitting — a pair of 10s, for instance, is generally better left alone since you're already sitting on 20.
Forfeit half your bet and end the round early. This option isn't available at every table variant, but it's useful when your hand is very weak against a strong dealer upcard — for example, holding a 16 against a dealer's Ace. Losing half is better than risking losing everything.

Common Terms Found at the Table
You’ll encounter these six terms in nearly every round. Understand them and you won’t be caught off guard while playing.
A two-card total of exactly 21 — an Ace paired with any 10-value card. Typically pays 3:2 (you receive RM 150 on a RM 100 bet), which is higher than a standard win that pays 1:1.
A hand value exceeding 21 — the player loses that round immediately, without waiting for the dealer to finish. If the dealer Busts, all remaining active players win automatically.
Tie — the player's hand value matches the dealer's. In this case, the bet is returned to the player with no win or loss. A Push is a neutral outcome.
A hand containing an Ace counted as 11 without exceeding 21. Example: Ace + 6 = Soft 17. A Soft Hand is more flexible because the Ace can revert to a value of 1 if needed.
A hand without an Ace, or one where the Ace must be counted as 1 to avoid busting. Example: 10 + 7 = Hard 17. Hard Hands are less flexible and require more careful decisions.
The platform's long-term statistical advantage over players. Blackjack played with correct basic strategy has one of the lowest house edges of any casino game — typically between 0.5% and 1%, depending on the variant and table rules.

How Blackjack Payouts Are Calculated
Here's a neutral example to help you understand how payouts work — no guaranteed outcomes implied.
You bet RM 50 and hit Blackjack (Ace + King).
If the table pays 3:2, you receive RM 75 in winnings + RM 50 original = total RM 125.
If you win normally (score higher than dealer), you receive RM 50 profit + RM 50 original = total RM 100.
Actual payouts depend on table variations and specific terms. Check table info before playing.
| Round Results | Common Payouts | Example (RM 50 Bet) |
|---|---|---|
| Blackjack (Ace + 10-value) | 3:2 | Receive RM 75 in winnings |
| Standard win | 1:1 | Receive a RM 50 profit |
| Push (Tie) | 0 | Bet returned |
| Lose | –1 | Loss of RM 50 |
Hit when your total is low and the dealer’s card is strong; Stand when your total is solid or the dealer’s card is weak. Consistently following basic strategy helps reduce the house edge compared to random play.
